Day Three Ends With Another NCAA 'B' Cut Achieved

Los Angeles, Calif. - Finishing the third day of swimming at the MPSF Championships on Friday, Feb. 21, the Tigers saw two of their senior men earn a NCAA "B" cut time. The meet, in its third of four days, took place at the East Los Angeles College pool.

Kicking off the strong evening for the men was senior Dai Wilson as he put up his top time in the 100 fly in his final MPSF event. Posting a time of 48.19, Wilson qualified for an NCAA "B" cut as he nearly reached the Tigers' program record for the event. Not to be outdone, fellow senior Oliver Simkovic followed suit in the 100 Back as he went 48.39 to reach the NCAA "B" cut line. Not only did Simkovic hit the "B" cut mark, he one upped his classmate by setting a new school record in the event as he topped the previous record by .20 of a second. The previous record was held by Wojciech Betlej who set the mark to beat during the 2007 season.

The Tigers are back in the pool for the final day of the MPSF Championships on Saturday, Feb. 22 when they swim the 1650, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, and 400 Free Relay.
