Brusa Named A Louisville Slugger Pre-Season All-American

Tucson, Ariz. - With the 2015 season on the horizon, Collegiate Baseball has named its 2015 Louisville Slugger Pre-Season All-Americans as junior Gio Brusa selected to the second team. The teams feature a remarkable mix of talented NCAA Division I baseball players across the USA as chosen by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.

Brusa is poised for a breakout junior season as he adds preseason all-america honors to his selection as the top position player in the Cape Cod League last summer. Ranked among the top draft prospects in the country, Brusa's ability at the plate puts him as one to watch in 2015. Brusa was the highest ranked player from the WCC on the preseason all-america list and one of two on named to the teams along with Pepperdine's Hutton Moyer who was named to the third team.

In 2014, Brusa, coming off a shoulder injury that zapped his power and production early in the season, finished the season batting .257 with 22 extra-base hits that included 17 doubles and three home runs. The switch-hitting outfielder led the team with 40 RBI while scoring 30 runs. In two seasons, Brusa has posted a .257 average with seven home runs and 63 RBI. Over the summer while playing for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod League, Brusa garnered all-star recognition for his play as he finished the summer hitting .322 with 20 RBI and six home runs against the best-of-the-best.

The Tigers begin their 2015 quest for the WCC title on Feb. 13 as they host Washington at Klein Family Field. WCC play begins at Saint Mary's one month later on March 13.
