Box Score Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision at home to Saint Mary's on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Knoles Soccer Field. The Tigers dropped to 2-13-1, 0-6-0 in West Coast Conference play, while Saint Mary's improved to 7-8-2, 1-3-2 in WCC play.
The Gaels scored the only goal of the match with just under two minutes left, when Hannah Diaz found the net near the far post.
"We have been playing very good possesion soccer, but we just need to finish at the goal," said Head Coach Keith Coleman. "We are getting great looks and the defense has been playing better as a unit."
Pacific was out-shot 7-4 in the first half. In the 28th minute, the Tigers had a chance at goal with Alex Hussar blasting one into the wall on free kick from 20 yards out.
The Gaels held a 16-10 edge in shots for the match, including a 9-6 advantage in the second half. In the 67th minute, Hussar again had a chance, but her header off of a nice pass from Ellie Papalexiou was just wide. Papalexiou then had a header that was headed to goal, but bounced off of a teammate and out of play.
Goalkeeper Jacqueline Kane had nine saves for the Tigers.
The Tigers are next in action with a home game against San Diego on Thursday, October 30 on Knoles Soccer Field at 7:00 p.m.
