Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific women's tennis team dropped a tough 4-3 decision to UC Davis on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts in its season opener. The Tigers opened the season 0-1, while UC Davis evened its record at 1-1.
"Today was a tough one," said Pacific Head Coach Charlotte Scatliffe. "I am proud of their efforts and think that there are some good things to highlight but we all know there's still a lot of work to do. I want to highlight Hana who went undefeated in both her singles and doubles matches today. Cristina also played great tennis today and picked up a convincing win in her first college match. Francis our other freshman was right there as well. We have two weeks off before heading to Las Vegas and I think we all have a pretty good idea of what we need to work on."
The Tigers dropped the doubles point, though juniors Hana Ritterova and Regina Suarez picked up a 7-5 win at No. 1 Doubles.
Ritterova, sophomore Christiana Ferrari and freshman Cristina Saenz de Buruaga Ruiz all won at their singles positions but the Tigers fell just short in the loss.
The Tigers are next in action at UNLV on Feb. 7.
