Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific women's tennis team was upended by visiting No. 43 Long Beach State, 5-2, Saturday in a Big West tennis match at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts.
The loss dropped Pacific to 8-11 and 3-4 in conference matches. Long Beach State improved to 17-3 and 7-1 in league play with the win.
The 49ers claimed the doubles point by winning all three of the doubles matches. The duo of sophomores Hana Ritterova and Iveta Masarova hung tight with their counterparts, losing 8-5.
In singles action, Masarova and sophomore Gergana Boncheva picked up wins for the Tigers. Masarova defeated Ebba Unden by the score of 6-4, 6-4, while Boncheva was victorious over Anna Jeczmionka, 7-5, 6-2.
Freshman Christiana Ferrari and junior Susan Te saw their singles matches extend to three sets as each won the opening set before dropping the final two.
The Tigers are back in action this Friday, April 12, when they take on rival UC Davis at 1:30 p.m. in Davis.
