Stockton, Calif. – Pacific Cross Country had another solid outing in its second race of the season led by Lindsay Wourms on Saturday, Septemeber 8 at the Humboldt State Invite. The freshman set the all-time freshman school mark with a time of 23:01 good for sixth place in the 6K.

In her first ever 6K collegiate race Wourms' time put her in third place overall on the school's all-time 6K list. Right behind was freshman Becky Grabow with a time 23:22 and a ninth place individual finish. Head coach Josh Jones said of his two freshman, "They worked well with each other during the race, and Lindsay setting the freshman record speaks for itself."

As a team, the Tigers set the team time record for a 6K with a finish of 2:00:01.92. Head coach Josh Jones was pleased with his team's performance saying, "It was a solid day for us today.  I was hoping to place a little higher than we did, but I can't let that take away from how well the team did." He added,  "For eight of our runners it was the first time they have ever ran a 6K, so it was a learning experience for them." 

Jones commented on some idividual performances saying, "Mia Knipper and Lauren Nakaso worked well together and ran a great race. Cassi Rush and Micaela Todd ran faster this year than at last seasons Humboldt State Invite. Overall a very solid performance and day for us."

Knipper talked about her first ever 6K saying, "The weather made it a perfect day to race, our practices are really showing up in the events.  Today was a learning experience for me and I might have started a little slow just because it was my first 6K. I had a lot of energy left at the end, so I know at the next 6K I can handle a faster pace."   

Cross Country returns to action next week at the Mills College Invite in Oakland, Calif. on September 15.
