Oakland, Calif. – Pacific Cross Country had its third race of the season on Saturday, September 15 at the Mills College Invite. The Tigers placed third overall led by a second place finish from freshman Lindsay Wourms and a seventh place finish from Becky Grabow.

The Tigers had a great performance and head coach Josh Jones was pleased saying, "Today's race was all about competition.  I know that sounds different to say about a race, but we put the watches away and just went out there and competed hard.  They ladies ran tough and it showed in how we performed." 

He added, "They changed the course this year and it slowed down the times tremendously, but we knew going in, times would not be fast.  So it was about the competition.  I told the ladies before the race the teams that are close to us and the prediction was correct.  There was a three way tie for second, so we had to go to our sixth runner which put us in third overall." 

Mia Knipper and Lauren Nakaso finished 15th and 16th, respectively. While, sophomore runner Rebecca Tuttle finished 37th.

Nakaso commented on the event saying, "This week coach wanted us to focus on being competitive and not to worry about our times and just run our best.  The hills weren't going to stop us from racing our best; it was just another challenge we had to face.  I am so proud of how well everyone performed.  She added, "It's great to have a teammate (Mia Knipper) right next to you pushing me through the race.  We are going to keep up our hard work and get ready for our next event because it is paying off."

Overall Jones finished by saying, "This race was important because we focused on running aggressively and running to beat other people.  We didn't worry about our times we just worked hard on a tough course."
