Box Score Bakersfield, Calif. - The Pacific men's basketball team dropped an 83-53 decision at Cal State Bakersfield on Thursday, Dec. 22. Pacific is now 4-6 on the season, while the Roadrunners improved 6-6.
CSUB scored the first nine points of the game with a trio of three-pointers. Junior Lorenzo McCloud broke a three minute scoreless stretch to open the game and cut it to 9-3. A 10-2 Roadrunner burst made it 19-5 with 11:53 to play in the half. The Tigers responding with a 13-4 run, getting five points from sophomore Andrew Bock to make it 23-18 with 8:17 to go in the half. An 8-0 run by CSUB took the lead back to 31-18, as the Roadrunners extended to a 51-30 halftime lead. CSUB shot 59.3 percent from the field in the first half, including makes on 10 of 15 three-point attempts. Additionally, the Roadrunners had six offensive rebounds on their 11 misses, scoring 12 second chance points.
Bock scored on a layup to get the Tigers going in the early moments of the second half and a free throw from sophomore Khalil Kelley made it 51-33 with 18:04 to play in the game. But that would be as close as the Tigers could get, as a three-pointer by CSUB's Issiah Grayson sparked a 12-3 run to make it 63-36 with 11:29 to play. The Roadrunners led by as many as 34 in the second half, on the way to a big home win.
Sophomore Ross Rivera scored 14 points to lead the Tigers. Bock added 10 points and four assists.
The Roadrunners shot 56.0 percent from the field, including 62.5 from three-point range. The Tigers shot 37.0 percent and committed 13 turnovers.
The Tigers are next in action with a home game against Fresno State on Dec. 29. The start time will be 7:30 p.m., following a women's basketball game.
