Stanford, Calif. – The Pacific Cross Country team finished its season after sending four runners to the NCAA Regionals in Stanford, Calif. on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Freshman Katie Castro continued to leave her mark on the Pacific record book after finishing with a time of 23:04. She broke her own freshmen record that she set just two weeks ago at the Big West Championships by four seconds. Castro's finish was the highest ever for a Pacific runner at the NCAA Regionals.
Melissa Hopper was the next to finish her 2011 campaign with a time of 24:17. Right behind her was freshman Rebecca Tuttle who finished with a time of 24:50.
Senior Jazmin Quiroz finished her impressive Pacific career with her best ever time at the NCAA Regionals. She finished the course in 25:21, and rounded out the Tiger squad.
Head coach Josh Jones was pleased with his runners saying, "this was by far our best showing at an NCAA Regionals race. We really ran well in one of the toughest regions in the country." He added, "it was great to take another step in the right direction in an NCAA event."
