Tigers Place 11th At The 5K Bronco Invitational

Santa Clara, Calif. – The Pacific Cross Country team continued its 2011 campaign at the Bronco Invitational on Saturday, October 15. The race is the Tigers final tune-up before the Big West Championships in two weeks.

Running in the open division of the 5K race, the Tigers as a team placed 11th with an average time of 20:24.2. The Tigers again were led by freshman Katie Castro who crossed the finish line with a time of 19:04.8. The time was good for the best ever by a freshman in the 5K, and fourth best in Pacific's history.

The next to cross the line was freshman Rebecca Tuttle and sophomore Melissa Hopper who finished with times of 20:08.2 and 20:24.8, repectivley. Senior Jazmin Quiroz was not far behind with a time of 20:58.9.

A strong race from sophomore Cassi Rush and senior Monica Torres resulted in personal records for both runners. Rush finished with a time of 21:24.2, while Torres set her new personal record at 21:46.0. Rounding out the Tigers was Micaela Todd who finished with a time of 22:55.2.

The Tigers take a week to rest and prepare before finishing their team schedule at the Big West Championships on October 29 in Riverside, Calif.
