Turlock, Calif. - Pacific women's cross country took a fifth place finish at the 6K Warriors Invite on Saturday, September 26. Junior Kristina Hammarstrom (Manteca, Calif.) led the Tigers with her eighth place finish and a time of 24:19, her fastest 6K time this September. Sophomore Jazmin Quiroz (San Jose, Calif.) finished with a time of 25:38, to take a 17th place finish.  This was her career best time for the 6K, by 1:21.

Junior Devin Blount (Bucks County, Pa.) finished in 47th with her time of 29:53. The next Tiger to finish was freshman Lia Genovese (Bow, N.H.) with a time of 30:47, a 52nd place finish. Sophomore Gillian Flagg (Los Alamitos, Calif.) ran a 31:26 and placed 55th. Freshman Kirstin Kita (Torrance, Callif.) finished 61st with a time of 33:20.

"Our first 6k of the season was a solid start," said head coach Josh Jones.  "We went out a little too fast for the first mile.  For three of the Ladies it was their first 6k and didn't quite adjust to slowing down for that first mile.   Jazmin ran really well she PR'd by 1:21 and she looked like she had a lot more in her.  As far as this relates to our season, we used this as our last workout meet and we are slowly going to taper to peak at the Big West meet Oct, 31 at UC Riverside.  I'm really proud that we have such a hard working team and their efforts will pay off."

The Tigers next race will be on October 9 in San Francisco, Calif. for the SFSU Invitational. The start time is set for 4 p.m.
