Box Score

Stockton, Calif. - Behind three treys from redshirt freshman Reed Kamler (San Rafael, Calif.) and 11 from junior Sam Willard (Pierre, S.D.), the Pacific men's basketball team closed out its 2009-10 exhibition season perfectly after a 71-42 victory over Cal State East Bay.

The Tigers opened up a 9-4 lead with 13:15 remaining in the first half after a three-pointer from freshman Allen Huddleston (Merced, Calif.). Pacific then went cold from the field, going scoreless over the next nine minutes, until a pair of free throws from Royal Edwards (Sacramento, Calif.) evened the score at 11-11. A 9-2 run gave the Pioneers a 20-13 lead with 2:00 left in the first half. The Tigers scored six straight points to end the half, including a three-point play from Willard to make it 20-19 at the break.

Pacific opened the second half on a 19-4 run, equaling its scoring total of the first half in the first five minutes of the second stanza. Junior Terrell Smith (Federal Way, Wash.) and senior Lavar Neufville (Fairfield, Calif.) each scored six points in the run as the Tigers took control of the game. A 9-1 run just moments later took the lead to 20 (50-30) as junior Nyika Williams (Kingston, St. Vincent and the Grenadines) score all six of his points in the two minute stretch. Pacific's lead would not drop below 18 the rest of the way, as the Tigers led by as many as 31.

Led by Neufville's three steals, the Tigers had 13 as a team. After committing eight turnovers in the first half, the Tigers did not have a turnover in the second half.

Pacific finished the exhibition season 2-0, but will wipe the slate clean when they open up regular season play at Pepperdine on Friday, Nov. 13. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
