Pacific's Game At Northern Arizona Suspended Due To Power Outage

Flagstaff, Ariz. - The Pacific men's basketball team's game at Northern Arizona has been suspended due to a power outage in the Flagstaff area.

The Tigers were trailing 45-43 with 8:50 left in the second half.

At this point the game is suspended. There is no word on the time frame for resuming the game.

The Tigers took an early 7-6 lead, hitting six of their first 10 shots from the field. After the Lumberjacks went ahead 8-7 on a pair of free throws, the Tigers went on a 9-2 run over the next two minutes to take a 16-10 lead with 12:21 to play in the half. Junior Pat Eveland (San Diego, Calif.) hit a pair of three-pointers in the run, his first treys of the year. NAU answered with an 11-2 run over the next six minutes, to take a 21-18 lead with 6:50 to play in the half. The Tigers trailed 25-22, then scored five straight, anchored by a three-pointer from junior Demetrece Young (Oklahoma City, Okla.) to take a 27-25 lead with 2:14 to go. The Lumberjacks evened it back up in the final minute, then junior Terrell Smith (Federal Way, Wash.) hit a left-wing jumper at the first half buzzer to give Pacific a 29-27 advantage at the break.

The second half opened with a 6-0 Pacific run, to take a 35-27 lead after a layup by junior Sam Willard (Pierre, S.D.) three minutes into the second half. After the Lumberjacks cut the lead back to 35-30, the Tigers again scored six straight on a three-pointer from Smith and a three-point play by Willard. With Pacific leading 41-30 at the 14:45 mark, Northern Arizona went on a 15-2 run over the next six minutes to take a 45-43 lead at the 8:50 mark. It was after the jumper made by NAU's Cameron Jones to take the lead that the power went out.

With a suspended game, the statistics are not official. Smith led the Tigers with 11 points, while Eveland added eight points. Seniors Joe Ford (Altadena, Calif.), Michael Nunnally (Stockton, Calif.) and Willard each had four rebounds. Cameron Jones had 17 points for Northern Arizona.

The Tigers are next in action at the Spanos Center on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 5:00 p.m. in another game in the West Coast Classic against Santa Clara.
