Roadrunners Swim Past Tigers

Stockton, Calif. - The Tigers took the pool midday to take on the visiting Roadrunners of Cal State Bakersfield. The Roadrunners defeated the Tigers, 152-104.

Junior Aljaz Ojstersek (Ljubljana, Slovenia) and freshman Zach Zlotoff (San Jose, Calif.) finished back-to-back for the first and second place finishes in the 1000 Free. Ojstersek touched the wall in 9:53.14 to take the top spot.

Freshman Kevin Schirmer (Danville, Calif.) recorded Pacific's best times in the 50 (22.41) and 100 Free (49.72) on the day. Tyler Hannis (Santa Rosa, Calif.), RJ Barton (Modesto, Calif.) and Bart Platow (Westport, Conn.) rounded out the top six for the Tigers in the 200 Free with times of 1:49.01, 1:49.07 and 1:50.06 respectively.

For Pacific in the 100 and 200 Back, sophomore Kevin Byers (Puyallup, Wash.) finished second in both events behind Luka Leskur of CSUB.

Chris Weber was the Tigers top swimmer in the Breast events and the 100 Fly. In the 100 Breast, Weber touched the wall with a time of 1:02.00 for the third place finish. Weber finished second (2:16.10) behind Chad McKenzie of CSUB in the 200 Breast. He also recorded his second second place finish in the 100 Fly with a time of 55.59.

In the 200 IM, Pacific finished second through fifth with Byers leading the way. Finishing behind Byers were Sean Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md.), Danny Platow (Westport, Conn.) and Barton.

The Tigers also finished second through fifth in the 500 Free and 100 Fly. Leading the Tigers in the 500 Free was Ojstersek followed by Patrick Walton (Lodi, Calif.), Zlotoff and Bart Platow. Weber led the Tigers in the 100 Fly, with Barton, Jonathan Kim (Bakersfield, Calif.) and David Hernandez (Chico, Calif.) completing the top five.

The men's relay teams finished back-to-back for the first and second place finish in the 400 Free Relay.

With the loss, the Tigers fall to 0-3 on the season. Pacific continues action Nov. 7, against Denver 11 a.m. at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
