Tigers Struggle Against No. 9 Washington, Fall 3-0

Honolulu, Hawaii - The Pacific women's volleyball squad struggled in a 3-0 loss to No. 9 Washington on Thursday, Sept. 11 in the opening round of the Chevron Rainbow Wahine Invitational.

Set scores were: 25-13, 25-11 and 25-13

The loss dropped the Tigers to 0-6 on the season, while Washington stayed perfect, moving to 7-0.

Washington simply overmatched the Tigers on Thursday evening, hitting a combined .525 in the match. The Huskies finished with 46 kills and just four errors on 80 attempts.

The Tigers, meanwhile, had 25 kills and 15 errors on 84 attempts for a .119 hitting percentage.

Pacific battled tough with Huskies through the early portions of the first and second sets, but Washington made the Tigers pay for every mistake.

Junior Mallori Gibson (Bakersfield, Calif.) led the Tigers with 11 kills in the match.

Jill Collymore posted a match-high 13 kills and without an error on 23 attempts for Washington.

Pacific returns to the court on Friday, Sept. 12 as the Tigers take on No. 10 Hawai'i at 10 p.m. (PT).
