Santa Clara, Calif.- The Pacific women's cross country team posted an outstanding outing the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 18. Six runners completed the race for Pacific for a team finish of 16th place.
Running in a shorter 5K event on Saturday, the Tigers excelled on the course with new personal records from sophomore Kristina Hammarstrom (Manteca, Calif.), senior Micaela Klaus (Peru, New York) and sopohomore Katie Bella (Beavertown, Ohio). Hammarstrom took center stage at the event, running an 18:35 in the race, her personal best, as well as a new Pacific school record. Her time was 16 seconds faster then the previous record of 18:51.
Klaus did not finish far behind with her personal best of 18:47, also good enough to break the existing school record and finish 69th overall. Fellow senior Meghan Mullen (South San Francisco, Calif.) recorded a solid 20:31 in the event, newcomers Jazmin Quiroz (San Jose, Calif.), Bella, and Devon Blount (Germantown, Penn.) closed out the Pacific times.
Pacific is next in action on Nov. 1, as they compete in the Big West Championships at UC Riverside.
