Tigers Open Season With Sixth Place Finish at the USF Invitational

San Francisco, Calif.- The Pacific cross country team kicked off their 2007 season with a sixth place finish at the University of San Francisco Invitational on Sept. 1. The Tigers finished with a total of 170 points to finish ahead of UC Santa Cruz and Sonoma State, falling just three points shy of finishing in fifth ahead of San Francisco State. Santa Clara University took the meet's team title with a total of 37 points.

In the race, Adriane Puetz from Santa Clara was the meet's first place individual finisher with a time of 17:58 for the 5K course. The first finisher for the Tigers was junior Micaela Klaus (Peru, NY), who placed 22nd with a time of 19:16. Junior Meghan Mullen (South San Francisco, Calif.), finished just behind Klaus in 27th place covering the course in a time of 19:30.

Other runners for the Tigers included senior Francesca Au (Concord, Calif.), freshman Kristina Hammarstrom (Manteca, Calif.), and newcomer Victoria Lam (Oakland, Calif.). Au and Hammarstrom finished within seconds of each other in 39th and 40th place running times of 20:21 and 20:27, while Lam finished in 76th with a time of 28:12.

The Tigers will next be in action on Sept. 8, when they will compete in the Chico Invitational at 9:15 a.m. in Chico, Calif.
