Pacific Falls To Pepperdine, 83-65

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Pacific men's basketball team fell to 6-3 on the season with an 83-65 non-conference defeat to Pepperdine (5-6) on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

With the win, Pepperdine avenged an 84-78 loss to the Tigers at the World Vision Invitational in Eugene, Ore., on Nov. 12.

Freshman Sam Willard (Pierre, S.D.) scored 11 of his career-high 13 points in the first half for Pacific, as the Tigers took a narrow 36-34 advantage into the intermission.

Pepperdine led by one point, 47-46, with 13:20 remaining in the contest. The Waves then went on a 12-1 run over the next 5:19 to build a 59-47 cushion. The Waves led by as many as 21 points before closing out the 18-point win.

Junior Bryan LeDuc (Corona, Calif.) led all Pacific scorers with 14 points on a perfect shooting night from the floor (5-for-5) and the free throw line (4-for-4). Willard was 5-for-6 from the field for the Tigers, while junior Steffan Johnson (Kent, Wash.) and sophomore C.J. Morgan (Elk Grove, Calif.) also reached double figures in scoring with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Malcolm Thomas had game-highs of 21 points and nine rebounds to lead the Waves, while Tyrone Shelley contributed 20 points and four steals.

As a team, the Tigers recorded nine assists while committing 19 turnovers.

Pacific returns to action with a non-conference contest at Santa Clara on Wednesday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m.
