Stockton, Calif. - Behind 17 points from junior Steffan Johnson (Kent, Wash.) the Pacific men's basketball team posted a 72-50 exhibition win over Alaska-Anchorage on Sunday, November 4.  Pacific improved to a perfect 2-0 in exhibition play in 2007-08.
Alaska Anchorage took an early 11-4 lead, getting two three-pointers from Cameron Burney.  The Tigers slowly took back control of the game, holding a 22-21 lead with 5:52 left in the half. Pacific then used a 15-1 run over the rest of the half to hold a 37-22 halftime lead. Pacific hit five three-pointers to account for the scoring in that run, including two treys by Johnson.
The Tiger lead did not fall below 15 in the second half, as the lead grew to as many as 26 (67-41 with 4:59 remaining).
Johnson was joined in double figures by junior Anthony Brown (Sacramento, Calif.), who also had a game-high nine rebounds. Junior Bryan LeDuc (Corona, Calif.) added eight points, six rebounds and three steals in just 13 minutes, while sophomore Joe Ford (Altadena, Calif.) had six points, eight rebounds and four assists in 16 minutes.
Pacific out-rebounded Alaska Anchorage 38-24, and had seven steals in the victory.
The Seawolves were led by McCade Olsen's 21 points.
Pacific is next in action at the World Vision Invitational in Eugene, Ore. on Nov. 10-12. The Tigers' first opponent is Western Michigan on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m.
