The Pacific men's basketball team fell to 1-1 with an 80-64 loss at No. 12 Oregon on Nov. 11 in Eugene, Ore. on McArthur Court. The Ducks improved to 2-0 with the victory.
Junior Steffan Johnson (Kent, Wash.) scored the first five points of the game for the Tigers as Pacific took a 5-0 lead. Oregon came back to even the game at 5-5, but the Tigers outscored the Ducks 7-1 over the next three minutes to take a 12-6 lead. Oregon then went on a 8-0 run to take a 14-12 lead, The Tigers took their final lead of the game at 18-17 on a three-pointer by junior Chad Troyer (Seattle, Wash.). The Ducks outscored Pacific 17-9 over the rest of the first half to lead 34-27 at the break.
The Ducks extended their lead to 17 (56-39) with 13:02 left in the game, before the Tigers went on an 11-4 run led by five points from Johnson. That was as close as Pacific would get the rest of the way, as scored nine of the next 10 points to seal the win.
Johnson scored 22 points to lead the Tigers. Troyer added 14 points, while junior Michael Nunnally (Stockton, Calif.) scored 10 points with a team-high seven rebounds.
Tajuan Porter scored 28 points to lead the Ducks.
The Tigers finish play at the World Vision Invitational with a 5:00 p.m. game against Pepperdine on Monday, Nov. 12 at McArthur Court.
