San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Behind a 20th place finish by Junior Micaela Klaus (Peru, New York), the Pacific cross country team finished in sixth place at the Cal Poly Invitational on Oct. 13. Klaus covered the course with a time of 19:19 to lead the Tigers, while UC Riverside's Brenda Martinez won the event with a time of 17:28.
Meghan Mullen (South San Francisco, Calif.) finished just 11 seconds behind Klaus in the race with a time of 19:30. Mullen finished in 24th place, while Kristina Hammarstrom (Manteca, Calif.) finished in 32nd, Francesca Au (Concord, Calif.) finished in 46th, and Victoria Lam (Oakland) finished in 80th place overall.
Hammarstrom covered the 5K course with a time of 20:04, Au finished with a time of 10:56, and Lam ran the 5K in 25:04. The sixth place finish for the Tigers was six places better than last year's performance when the Pacific cross country team finished in twelfth place in the event.
The Tigers will next be in action on Oct. 27 at the Big West Championships in San Luis Obispo, Calif. The race will cover the same course that the Tigers ran this morning.
