Tigers Take Down Bears At Home 10-3

March 18, 2006

Box Score

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific Tigers evened their three-game series with Cal by defeating the Bears 10-3 at Stockton Ballpark, March 18. Behind six shutout innings from Joey Centanni the Tigers improved their record to 12-7 on the season.

The Tigers took command early on after Adam Ching singled up the middle and Justin Baum followed with a two-run homerun to left center.

Pacific loaded the bases in the bottom of the fourth, capitalizing after Ramon Glasgow was hit by a pitch, Brett Manning doubled off the wall and Jordan Seiber walked. With the bases loaded Alex Zanini was also walked, forcing Glasgow home for the Tigers' third run of the game. Cal went to the bullpen, but relief pitcher Alex Harris proceeded to plunk Clint Eastman, moving Manning home. Ching, up to bat next, grounded into a 6-4-3 double play but Seiber advanced from third and scored Pacific's 5th run.

The Tigers would get three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning thanks to back-to-back-to-back doubles by Ching, Baum and Berezay. Centanni would be replaced in the seventh after pitching six innings of shutout baseball, allowing four hits in his first six innings for his first win of the season.

Cal threatened to get back into the game in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs off of relief pitcher Jake Wild. However Pacific matched Cal in the bottom of the seventh when Zanini tripled to centerfield and later scored off of Eastman's groundout to second.

The Tigers are back in action at Cal tomorrow afternoon for the final game of their three-game series.
