STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) Sophomore Anthony Brown (Sacramento, Calif.) had game-high totals of 15 points and seven rebounds, and Pacific pulled away in the second half Saturday for a 78-53 victory over Chico State in an exhibition.
Ben Pemberton (Hawkins, Texas) scored 14 points and senior Michael White (Capitola, Calif.) had 13 for Pacific, the three-time defending Big West Conference regular-season champion looking to make a fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament this season.
After trailing early in the first half, the Tigers used a 14-5 run to take a 14 point lead (34-20) with 4:14 remaining in the first half. Pacific led 38-30 at the intermission.
Pacific outscored the Wildcats 17-3 in the first seven and a half minutes of the second half, holding Chico State to 0-6 shooting from the field to take a commanding 55-33 lead with 12:30 left in the game. Brown scored seven of his points in the run.
Tiger newcomers Solomon Horsechief (Muskogee, Okla.) and C. J. Morgan (Elk Grove, Calif.) each added eight points in the victory.
Frank Igbekoyi led Division II Chico State with 11 points and Andy Bocian scored 10 for the Wildcats.
