Biography
2016 (Junior):
Maycie appeared in all 30 matches for Pacific in her third season in the Orange and Black and averaged 2.20 digs per set. She contributed 19 digs in Pacific''s 3-2 victory versus Northern Colorado on September 9, the first of four straight matches in which she recorded a double-figure dig total. She had a season-best three service aces in Pacific''s season opener on August 26 versus Furman and a season-high four assists in the Tigers'' next match versus Georgia Tech on August 27.
2015 (Sophomore):
Maycie took over the Tigers'' starting second-outside hitter position for the Tigers in her second season during which she played in and started all 30 matches. For the year, LaBass posted 288 kills while averaging 2.55 kills per set, second-best among all Tigers. She finished the year with 37 aces (0.33 per set), fourth-best in the WCC. In addition to her scoring, Maycie added 255 digs and 18 blocks defensively as a sophomore. She earned all-tournament honors in Omaha after she came up with her first career double-double against Creighton with 13 kills and career-high 16 digs. She would finish the year with seven double-doubles.
2014 (Freshman):
In her first season, LaBass played in 10 matches while picking up one start against Mississippi Valley State. In 15 sets, Maycie came up with 24 kills in 58 attacks while serving up eight aces, 20 digs, and three blocks. In her lone start, LaBass came up with all eight of her aces which tied for the fourth most in program history for a single match, matching Linda Vaughn''s total from a match against San Francisco in 1981. Against Nevada earlier in the year, LaBass came up with a season-best 10-kill performance as the young Tiger needed just 20 attacks to do her damage.
High School:
Maycie spent her prep years at Gregori High School in Modesto, Calif. from which she graduated in 2014. A true six-rotation outside hitter for the Jaguars, LaBass has been one of the architects of Gregori HS volleyball as the school came into existence in 2010. Making her mark on the program, LaBass established herself as one of the top players in the area as she was named the Modesto Bee''s Player of the Year in 2012 as a junior, beating out fellow Tiger Andie Shelton for the honor. As a junior, LaBass led the Jaguars to a 33-4 overall record, a MMC title, and a runner-up finish in the section championships. She averaged nearly six kills per game and ranked first in the section in kills with 579 and kills per set at 5.8 per set. In addition LaBass paced the Jaguars in digs (279) and ranked second in blocks (37) and aces (74). As a senior, LaBass led the Jaguars to their third-straight conference title as they have posted a 12-0 record in the MMC and a 38-4 overall record. Outside of high school, LaBass is a member of the Rage Volleyball club.
Personal:
Maycie Renee LaBass is the daughter of Robin and Jim LaBass. She has two older siblings, Levi and Karly.
