2017 (Freshman):
Made eleven starts in goal her first season and 13 overall appearances. Registered her first collegiate win against Portland State (Sept. 3) as she made four saves and allowed just one goal. Notched her first clean sheet in the blanking of CSU Bakersfield (Sept. 22), making four saves in the process. Made 15 saves against BYU (Oct. 12), which was the most by a Tiger ‘keeper all season.

Personal:
Mäkelä played for PK-35 Vantaa in the Women''s Premier League, helping the club to back-to-back Finnish Premier League Championships in 2015 and 2016. She''s started eight matches for PK-35 Vantaa during the 2016 season after 14 starts in the regular season last year, and one in the Suomen Cup. She has been a member of the Finland U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-23 national teams, totaling 104 caps, and was called up to start for the Finnish Senior National Team in a friendly against China.
