Sara Vargas was promoted to Senior Associate Director of Sports Medicine in August 2023 after 12 years on the staff. 

She returned to her alma mater as the Tigers' athletic trainer in 2011-12. In addition to her duties as the athletic trainer for the women's basketball team and men’s & women’s tennis teams, Vargas is also in charge of pre-participation physicals for the student-athletes as they prepare for each season of competition.
 
Vargas graduated from University of the Pacific in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Sciences with an emphasis in Athletic Training. After graduation, Vargas pursued a master’s at Utah State University. As a member of Utah State Sports Medicine, Vargas worked with the Aggies’ football and women’s soccer programs. She earned her Master’s of Science in Sports Medicine in 2011.
 
Vargas is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and Far West Athletic Trainers’ Association.
