After serving as a graduate assistant for Pacific's men's water polo program during the 2011 season, Zac Koerner was promoted to assistant coach on August 29, 2012, for both the Tigers' men's & women's water polo teams.

In his two seasons as an assistant, the Tigers have gone 36-17, finishing sixth in the polls in 2012, and winning the MPSF regular season championship in 2013, en route to the NCAA National Championship Game and a second-place national finish.

As a graduate assistant, Koerner contributed to one of the Tigers' best seasons in recent memory in 2011, helping the men's squad finish sixth at that year's MPSF Tournament, the program's best finish since 2006. Pacific saw three of its student-athletes earn All-America honors at the conclusion of the season.

Koerner came to Pacific after five seasons at Rio Americano High School in Sacramento, Calif., where he served as the head coach of the boy's water polo team. Under his guidance, the boys' program notched over 100 victories while claiming five straight league titles and the CIF Division II Championship in 2010. The team also qualified for three CIF DII final matches and three CIF DII semi-final matches.

Koerner also currently serves as an assistant coach of the United States Junior National Team as well as serving as an Olympic Development Program expert coach running training camps in Florida and San Diego this past year. During that time, he was also an instructor at the annual Holiday Camp at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. From 2009 to 2011, he has served as the head coach of the Central California Zone Youth Team and in 2010 was recognized as the top boys coach for Northern California while leading his team to a pair of top two finishes at the Regional Championships.

Koerner graduated from UC Irvine in 2000 after two seasons in the pool for the Anteaters.

Koerner left the Tigers after the 2014-15 season to become the head coach at Jesuit High School.
