Clifton Awuy was promoted to Head Coach of the Pacific men's tennis program in May 2025 after spending the previous two seasons as Assistant Coach.
As an assistant, Awuy helped the Tigers reach top-60 national rankings in each of his two seasons and assisted the program to a tie for second-place in the final 2024-25 West Coast Conference standings. Pacific posted a 34-15 (10-5 WCC) record over the two years and made a run tot he finals of the NIT Championship in 2023-24.
Prior to Pacific, Awuy spent two years at Santa Clara and was Head Coach of the women's program in 2022-23. He began as a volunteer assistant coach with the men’s program in 2021-22 before taking the helm of the women’s program.

Awuy moved to collegiate tennis after a 16-year stint as director of tennis at Thompkins Tennis Academy in Fremont, California, working with professional and ITF junior competitors.Â

He graduated in 2003 from University of California Santa Barbara with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
