The Pacific Tigers men's soccer program strengthened its coaching staff with the return of Edison “Eddie” Gonzalez as an assistant coach in January 2026.
Gonzalez brings a high-level coaching profile with extensive experience developing players for the professional game. His background includes impactful work in the professional environment with Fresno Fuego FC, where he worked closely with elite-level players pursuing MLS and professional opportunities. His coaching is centered on preparing athletes for the demands of the next level, with a strong emphasis on performance standards, tactical intelligence, and the ability to compete in professional environments.
Known for his ability to identify and develop talent, Gonzalez has helped guide multiple players into professional pathways, including Major League Soccer opportunities. His experience bridging the gap between college soccer and the professional game makes him a key figure in the recruiting and development process at Pacific.
Gonzalez previously served on the Pacific staff during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, contributing to one of the program’s most successful years. The Tigers posted a 13-4-2 record in 2017 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. During that time, he worked alongside head coach Andres Ochoa to build a competitive, high-performing culture.
At the collegiate level, Gonzalez also gained valuable experience with the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds men's soccer, contributing to multiple postseason appearances and back-to-back National Championship appearances. His combined collegiate and professional experience allows him to provide players with a clear and realistic pathway from youth to college to the professional ranks.
In addition to his work at the collegiate and professional levels, Gonzalez serves as a Director of Coaching and Futsal for Livermore Fusion SC, where he oversees player development systems, curriculum design, and club-wide methodology. His approach focuses on producing complete players through structured technical, tactical, and performance-based training environments aligned with the modern professional game.
A former professional player with Club Deportivo Oro in Guadalajara, Mexico, Gonzalez brings first-hand experience of the professional pathway, further enhancing his ability to mentor and prepare players for the next level.
Gonzalez holds a U.S. Soccer Federation A License and is widely respected for creating demanding, competitive environments that mirror the professional standard.
He earned both his bachelor’s (2010) and master’s (2015) degrees in kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University.
