Jason Levy

Jason Levy

Jason Levy is in his first season as an assistant men's basketball coach at Pacific. Levy has served as an assistant coach for 25 seasons, primarily at west coast institutions, including Long Beach State, Cal State Northridge, Loyola Marymount, Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine and Portland. He brings first-hand knowledge of the West Coast Conference to the Tigers.

"I've known Jason Levy since my first year in Division I," Perry explained. "I've watched him be on staffs that made the NCAA Tournament from very unlikely places. He's a proven recruiter, a proven basketball coach but, more importantly, he's a very good human being. He's a loyal person that works hard and I respect him. He's excited to be at the University of Pacific and I'm excited to partner with him as we continue the great tradition that this university has in men's basketball. Jason knows that tradition because he has competed against Pacific for many years."

Most recently, Levy served as a basketball coach consultant with the United States Basketball Academy in Shanghai, China. At the Academy, he worked with high school and college coaches, plus was involved in the implementation of a player development program, developed scouting reports, and film breakdown strategies. He also served as an assistant coach on the Dominican Republic National Team in 2017-18, building the foundation that enabled the DR to qualify for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Throughout his career as an assistant coach, Levy earned a reputation for scouting, recruiting, and guiding programs to successful turnarounds. Levy's most recent college season was the 2018-19 year when he served on the staff at Long Beach. From 2013-2017, he spent four years at Cal State Northridge. He spent five seasons at Loyola Marymount from 2008 to 2013, helping to guide the Lions to the semifinals of the WCC Tournament in 2010 and 2013. In 2011-12, the program had a 20-win season, the first for LMU since 1989-90. He helped recruit 10 All-WCC student-athletes to LMU. He moved to the Lions after eight seasons at Cal State Fullerton, helping the Titan program post four-straight winning seasons, including 20 wins or more in three of the last five seasons. At CSF, the team won the 2008 Big West Conference Tournament for the first time since 1978, the regular season title for the first time since 1976 and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance in more than 30 years. He was also involved in the recruiting of future pros and accolade-filled players, Pape Sow, Scott Cutley, Josh Akognan, Ralph Holmes and Bobby Brown. Sow, Akognan, and Brown played in the NBA.

Levy coached at Portland for three seasons, from 1997 to 2000. He spent the 1996-97 season at UC Irvine, coached two years at Long Beach from 1994-1996 and was on the Drake staff for the 1993-94 campaign.

Levy earned his bachelor's degree from Cal State Northridge in 1993.
