Having won five conference titles and seven Coach of the Year awards as a head coach, Canadian Craig Beaucamp was added to the Pacific men’s basketball staff as Assistant Coach in May 2024.
Beaucamp arrived in California as the reigning U SPORTS Coach of the Year winner in 2023-24. It came after leading the University of Victoria to 17-3 conference record and the team’s third straight Canada West Conference Title.
Beaucamp spent 21 seasons at the helm at Victoria and won conference championships in 2005-06, 2014-15, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24. He holds a career record of 409-249 overall and 283-128 in conference.
Consistently ranked as the No. 1 or No. 2 team in U SPORTS throughout the 2023-24 season, Victoria ranked first in both U SPORTS and Canada West with a 92.0 points per game scoring average. Also a top-10 team on defense, the Vikes ranked fourth in Canada West and 10th in U SPORTS with a 73.3 points allowed per game mark.
It marked the second time Beaucamp guided the Vikes to three consecutive U Sports tournament appearances after also doing so from 2013-15. Victoria notched a fourth-place and two sixth-place showings in that span.
Beaucamp has also been distinguished as one of the top coaches in the conference six times. First recognized following the 2003-04 and 2005-06 seasons, Beaucamp was also the conference coach of the year from the 2011-12 season through the 2013-14 seasons before collecting his sixth honour at the conclusion of 2023-24. Beaucamp earned his first U SPORTS Coach of the Year accolade in 2023-24.
Beaucamp earned a national medal as head coach of the program in 2005-06, when he led the Vikes to the U SPORTS Championship final for the 11th time in program history. The Vikes entered the tournament as Canada West Champions, seeded No. 1 overall, and came away with the silver medal.
Prior to joining UVic, Beaucamp coached for nine seasons at Melfort Collegiate High School in Saskatchewan and also coached the Saskatchewan Juvenile Provincial team in 1999 and 2000.
Beaucamp is also familiar with the international circuit. Most recently an assistant coach for Team Canada’s U19 men’s basketball team at the 2023 FIBA U19 Men’s Basketball World Cup in Debrecen, Hungary, he also served as the head coach for the U16 Canadian National Team that finished second at the 2017 FIBA U16 Americas Championship. Beaucamp was also an assistant coach for the 2017 senior men's national team for the 2017 FIBA Americup.
In 2006 and 2007, he was appointed the assistant coach of the Canadian junior men’s national team. In Oct. 2011, Beaucamp was selected to be an assistant coach for team Canada at the Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Beaucamp preaches hard work, fundamentals and a commitment to defence. He is a level four graduate of the National Coaching Certificate Program.
A native of Burnaby B.C., Beaucamp graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree and obtained his Master of Education from the University of Victoria.
