Biography

2014 (Senior):
A jack-of-all-trades, Tagart took over one of the starting outside spots midway through the season, helping the Tigers surge to a second place finish in the WCC in 2014. In total, Katy saw action in 19 matches on the year as she played in 61 sets. She finished with 121 kills (1.98 kps) on .204 hitting. She would add 30 blocks to the Tigers'' defensive totals as the team finished third in the WCC in blocks. She produced four matches of 10+ kills including tallying 13 kills on 17 attacks against Mississippi Valley State on Sept. 20 for a career best .706 hitting percentage.

2013 (Junior):
Little used early in the season on the outside, Katy transitioned into the middle midway through the season and quickly established herself as a solid defensive blocker. Tagart started the final six matches of the season in the middle for the Tigers and played in 36 total sets on the year. Overall, she finished with 32 kills on .324 hitting while adding 18 blocks, all of which came in the final month of the year. She posted a career-best seven blocks against Portland on Nov. 21 and added a season-best seven kills at Gonzaga two nights later.

2012 (Sophomore):
Hampered by injury for much of the season, Katy saw action in just 18 sets over the span of nine matches. In her limited time on the court, Tagart posted 22 kills to go along with one assist, two aces, 13 digs and five blocks. Overall, the sophomore''s best match came in the Tigers'' final match of the season when she posted six kills on just nine attacks to hit .667.

2011 (Freshman):
Jumping onto the collegiate stage quickly as a freshman, Katy made an immediate impact for the Tigers as she earned Big West All-Freshman honors in her first year. Taking over the starting right-side role midway through her first collegiate season, Tagart made the most of her time on the court as she established herself as one of the Tigers'' top defensive players playing all six rotations. Starting half of the Tigers'' matches on the year, Tagart finished her 2011 season with 170 digs and a 2.62 dig per game average. She also added 36 blocks to the Tigers'' totals and averaged 0.55 blocks per game for the season. On the offensive side, Tagart tallied 84 kills on the year for the Tigers while also posting 14 service aces to bring her season point total to 116.5 points. Tagart''s 14 service aces, 13 of which came in conference action, ranked the Tiger freshman No. 10 among Big West servers for the year.

High School/Club:
A 2011 graduate of Presentation High School in San Jose, Calif., Tagart helped lead the Panthers to a No. 5 national ranking (MaxPreps) after posting a 34-6 record during the 2010 season. Earning her second straight All-West Catholic Athletic League selection as a senior, Tagart recorded 149 kills and 32 blocks in 2010. Playing for one of the top high schools in the country and the state of California, Tagart and the Panthers took home the prestigious Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions title to close out the year as they competed against some of the best competition in the country en route to the trophy. As a junior, Tagart was named the San Jose Mercury Junior of the Year for her play on the court as she tallied 192 kills and 57 blocks in 40 matches. Additionally, Tagart earned all-league and all-section honors for her play. Outside of her high school play, Tagart was an integral member of the 18-Gold Vision Volleyball Club which took home the bronzyye medal in the 17 Open Junior National Championships. Most recently, Vision earned yet another bid to the Junior Olympics where they will compete in Atlanta, Georgia from June 30-July 3.

Personal:
Kathryn Tagart was born in San Jose, Calif. and is the daughter of Mary and Mark Tagart. She has one younger brother, Jack. Katy graduated with a degree in business.
