A three-time MPSF All-Academic team honoree and ACWPC All-Academic team member, J.T. Sarmento finished his career with 37 goals.
2015 (Senior)
An MPSF All-Academic selection, Sarmento scored 13 goals in 28 games for the Tigers, adding an assist and eight steals. Added two more multi-goal games, tying a career high with a pair of markers against Harvard (Sept. 12) and San Jose State (Oct. 22).
2014 (Junior):
Sarmento played in all 26 games for the Tigers, and scored 16 goals on the season. Sarmento turned in three multi-goal efforts on the year. Tied his personal best with his second career hat trick in a win over #18 Navy (Sept. 27). Added two goals in a win over Cal Lutheran (Sept. 27). Also picked up two goals in the Tigers'' MPSF Tournament contest against #12 UC Santa Barbara (Nov. 21). Scored in nine other contests: against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Sept. 6) and Air Force (Sept. 7) at the Triton Invitational, against #3 UCLA (Sept. 20) and #8 UC San Diego (Sept. 21) at the Kap7 NorCal Classic, against #14 Santa Clara (Oct. 4), in wins over #10 Princeton (Oct. 11) and #6 UC Santa Barbara (Oct. 12) at the SoCal Tournament, at #2 USC (Oct. 25) and in a win against #7 UC Santa Barbara (Nov. 2). Named to both the MPSF and ACWPC All-Academic teams.
2013 (Sophomore):
Sarmento appeared in 16 games, and scored six goals on the season, with a career-best three in a win over MIT. Also tallied against Santa Clara and Bucknell. Earned a spot on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Team.
2012 (Freshman):
Sarmento saw limited action in his first season at Pacific. He finished the year with two goals, scoring once in the Tigers'' respective wins over Cal Lutheran and Claremont-M-S, both at the Aggie Shootout.
High School:
Sarmento joins the Tigers after graduating from Liberty High School in Brentwood, Calif. He earned four letters as a two-meter defender for the Lions and was an All-North Coast Section pick as a senior. He was an All-Bay Valley Athletic League selection his final three years and was named the league’s MVP as a junior and senior. Sarmento was also Liberty’s Offensive MVP in his final three years after tallying 262 career goals and 194 career steals. He also earned four letters in swimming.
Club:
Sarmento played club water polo for the 680 Drivers from 2010-2012. He led his team to a fourth-place finish in the Gold Division at the KAP7 Tournament.
Personal:
Sarmento was born in Walnut Creek, Calif., and is the son of Eric and Laurel Sarmento. Eric played football and ran track at Ohio State from 1978-1980. He has an older sister, Jenna. In his free time, Sarmento enjoys snowboarding and swimming, listening to music, hanging out with friends, and going out on his family’s boat on the Delta. He will pursue a degree in psychology.
