DENVER, Colo./SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Pacific volleyball team (4-8, 0-0 WCC) begins West Coast Conference play on the road when it travels to Denver (7-5, 0-0 WCC) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24 at Hamilton Gym, and San Diego (5-5, 0-0 WCC) at noon on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Pacific enters its first weekend of league play following a 4-8 mark in the nonconference slate under first-year head coach Jeff Hendershot. The Tigers look to break a six-match losing streak following defeats to Idaho State, Boise State, and Wyoming at the Orange & Black Classic in Pocatello, Idaho, last weekend.
 
In the final contest of the tournament against the Cowgirls, the team produced 48 kills, the fifth most in a match this season, while Vanessa Zussino totaled a career-best 15 throughout the four-set match. Nicole Zake and Alessia Couchond helped guide the Tigers, with Zake posting her fifth double-double of the campaign, with 11 kills and 11 digs, and Couchond recording 36 assists.
 
Through 12 matches, Zake leads Pacific offensively, totaling 127 kills, 2.89 kills per set, and 134.0 points. She is the lone player on the team and one of 16 in the WCC with over 100 kills this season.
 
Defensively, Isabella Gutierrez leads the backline with 186 digs, third most in the WCC. Ellie Prindl and Julia Porath have recorded a team-best 29 total blocks to guide Pacific's front-line defense.
 
In its first season as a member of the West Coast Conference, Denver enters conference play with a 7-5 record, highlighted by victories over Air Force, Idaho, and CSUN. Despite the nonconference success, the Pioneers have dropped the last two matches, falling to Northern Colorado and Utah in straight sets.
 
San Diego, the defending WCC regular-season champions, begins the conference schedule at home when it hosts Saint Mary's and Pacific. The Toreros enter with a 5-5 mark, with all five losses coming against nationally ranked opponents. Winners of back-to-back contests to conclude the nonconference schedule, San Diego defeated Arizona and San Diego State last week while only dropping one set.
 
Pacific is slated to take on Denver for the first time in program history while trailing in the all-time series against San Diego. The last time the Tigers defeated the Toreros was on November 20, 2021, in a 3-1 decision at home.
