STOCKTON, Calif. – Securing its eighth consecutive home conference win of the season, the Pacific baseball program took game one over San Diego by a 6-4 margin on Friday night from Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (21-26, 13-9 WCC) earned their first home victory over the Toreros since March 25, 2018, utilizing a four-run third inning and resiliency from the bullpen.
Redshirt junior
Zach Todd (4-2) was effective enough to earn his third straight win in a West Coast Conference start, going 5.0 innings and allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Todd ties redshirt junior
Garret Plata as the team wins leader at four, while his 75 strikeouts rank top four in the WCC.
Redshirt junior
Carson Revay picked up his team-leading ninth save of the 2026 campaign, which makes the southpaw stand solely in second place all-time for saves in a single season in program history. Revay went 2.2 innings with six strikeouts, including the final two Torero hitters with the tying runs on base in the ninth inning. Revay is now tied atop the conference leaderboard in saves with Portland's Alex Via and Pepperdine's Lucien Wechsberg.
Senior
Jake Tandy had the biggest swing of the night for Pacific, launching a two-run home run to left field that completed a four-run bottom of the third. Tandy leads the Tigers with four home runs during WCC action while extending his hit streak to ten games with his 2-for-4 performance at the plate.
San Diego scored the game's opening run without a hit in the top of the first, but the Tigers kept their fight and determination at the dish, sending eight players to the box in their four-run third to hold a 4-1 lead after three frames.
The Toreros chipped away at Pacific's edge in the middle stages; however, a pair of insurance runs were collected by the Tigers, thanks to RBI singles from redshirt sophomore
JT Shank and senior
Blaine French in the sixth to present a 6-3 lead.
A run came across for the Toreros in the ninth, but Revay did not quiver, escaping the danger to send the Tigers' faithful home happy.
With the victory, the Tigers have earned their ninth home conference win of the season, marking the most in a single year since the program joined the West Coast Conference in 2014.
Head coach
Reed Peters claimed his 41st victory of his tenure at Pacific, passing Mike Neu for eighth all-time on the head coaches' wins leaderboard in school history.
With Friday's results around the conference, the Tigers moved up to a three-way tie for second place alongside San Francisco and Pepperdine. Pacific has won series at USF and Pepperdine earlier this year.
The Tigers and the Toreros get squared away for game two of the series tomorrow with a first pitch slated for 3 p.m. from Klein Family Field. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to the ballpark as parking will be impacted by graduation ceremonies taking place across campus.
