Tigers Take on Franson Last Chance Meet

AZUSA, Calif. – For the second time during the outdoor campaign, the Pacific men's and women's track and field program will participate at an Azusa Pacific-hosted event, competing in the Franson Last Chance Meet at Cougar Athletic Stadium from Thursday, May 7 to Saturday, May 9.

In the second-to-last week of the outdoor regular season, 17 Tigers are southbound for this week's races in Azusa, California. Last time out, Pacific collected a pair of first place finishes in heats at the Payton Jordan Invitational, hosted by Stanford. Junior Jack Weber and freshman Emma Schmutz were the beneficiaries of crossing the finish lines first in their respective events on The Farm last Friday.

Junior Valeria Espinoza and freshman Keira Hampton will be running in the women's 5k this week, while senior Emily Wernli, Schmutz and junior Emma Kaufman will suit up in the 1,500-meter run – all seeking to set personal bests in that event.

A dozen Pacific men's distance runners will look to continue setting personal records, spearheaded by Weber in his 1,500-meter effort and freshman Jett Davenport in the men's 3k steeplechase. Davenport holds the season record in that event with a time of 9:21.37.

Junior Samuel Lanham has ran the fastest men's 10k this year, clocking a 30:52.33 and looking to break that mark this go-around.

The Franson Last Chance meet spans across three days from Friday to Sunday. The meet will be streamed live on FloTrack.
