Tigers Fall in Mid-Week Match with Nevada

RENO, Nev. – Senior Jordan Hayes hit her second homer of the season in the seventh inning, but it was not enough for Pacific to overcome Nevada, falling 6-1 Tuesday afternoon from Hixson Softball Park.

Hayes' big fly ties her is the fourth of her career, book ended by two during her freshman season in 2023 and now two here in 2026. The senior is having her best season at the plate, swinging a career best .260 at the plate and .385 slugging percentage, meaning she's making stronger contact. Through her first three seasons in a Pacific (13-29, 1-8 WCC) uniform she had eight extra base hits combined and now this season she has nine – split between seven doubles and the two home runs.

Outside of Hayes, the Tigers got two singles from senior Allie Capello and a single from junior Zaedi Tagalog.

Early mistakes spelled trouble for Pacific as an error in the first inning fielding a bunt allowed the first two runs of the contest to cross the plate for Nevada (30-14, 11-5 Mountain West). A second error in the third inning put a runner on for Nevada to double its lead on a homer from Hannah Di Genova. From there, a second homerun and a sacrifice fly brought the Wolf Pack to their six runs.

Sophomore Alexa Lewis was Pacific's pitcher of record, falling to 4-6 after getting tagged with the loss. She went 2.1 innings giving up five runs, only two earned, on three hits and a walk – she struck out three. Freshman Jaelyn Lee finished the contest for the team, giving her best outing of the season. Lee gave up only a single run in 3.2 innings of work, walked one and allowed four hits over her time in the circle.

Pacific now returns to Bill Simoni Field for a four-game homestand on Friday against Santa Clara for the fourth weekend of conference play. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be shown on ESPN+.
