MORAGA, Calif. – The Pacific softball program fought to the final inning but was walked off by Saint Mary's 2-1 to finish the three-game series at Cottrell Field on Sunday afternoon.
Despite the loss, junior
Justice Alcaraz gave the Tigers (12-23, 0-3 WCC) their best performance on the mound all series tossing her sixth complete game of the season. Only one of the runs the junior allowed was earned and navigated traffic on the basepaths well as Saint Mary's (24-10, 3-0 WCC) only managed the two runs on eight hits and one walk. She drops to 4-6 on the season.
On the other side of the diamond, the Pacific bats attempted to manufacture runs – collecting four singles and four walks but could not tally any extra base hits, the fifth such instance this season.
Sophomore
Peyton Clifford had the lone Pacific RBI of the afternoon, singling home junior
Zaedi Tagalog in the fifth inning. The pair, alongside junior
Kaylah Adams and redshirt senior
Olivia Silvestre, rounded out the four hits. Tagalog also recorded a stolen base, her fifth of the year on seven tries.
With the six-game road stand complete, Pacific returns to Stockton for its next four – hosting Sacramento State on Tuesday in a mid-week showdown and then welcomes Seattle U to Bill Simoni Field Thursday through Saturday for the conference home opener. All four matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
