FRESNO, Calif. – The regular season came to a close Saturday as the No. 20 Pacific women's water polo program dropped a 13-10 decision to No. 14 Fresno State at the Fresno State Aquatics Center.

Pacific (10-9, 2-4 GCC) trailed 13-7 in the fourth quarter when it scored the final three goals of the game against Fresno State (14-9, 5-1 GCC), but ran out of time. The Bulldogs used a 6-3 third quarter to create slight separation.

Anna Crum led the offense with a hat trick. Junior
Laia Marsinach Ortega and freshmen
Maria Ikonomou and
Sophie Pethers netted two goals apiece. Pethers also drew four exclusions in the contest.

In net, junior
Maja Lizy Dulic played all 32 minutes and recorded eight saves and a steal.

The Tigers led 2-1 early after a pair of goals by Crum. After the Bulldogs went up 5-3, Pethers scored the last goal of the half to trim it to 5-4.

A goal by Ikonomou last in the third had Pacific trailing 8-6, but Fresno State went on a 5-1 run to push it up to 13-7 with 5:13 left in the fourth. The Tigers garnered goals from Ikonomou, Ortega and Pethers in the last five minutes.

Pacific will enter the Golden Coast Conference Tournament as the No. 5 seed. The Tigers will face fourth-seeded and 21st-ranked Cal Baptist on Friday, April 10 at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
