STOCKTON, Calif. – For the final times in the 2026 season, the Pacific Tigers men's tennis team will play at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center – beginning with Pepperdine on Friday at 1 p.m. and then LMU on Saturday at 2 p.m., the latter match of which will be senior day.
Recent matches have gone in Pepperdine's (9-7) favor but last season the Tigers (7-10) pulled off a series first win in Malibu to upset the Waves. Junior
Christof Schaertlin Coffey is the only Tiger from that team that scored a point in the singles portion. Sophomore
Jonty Giesen meanwhile is the only active returning Tiger that helped secure Pacific's doubles point. The latter student-athlete enters the weekend as one half of the reigning WCC Doubles Pair of the Week. Alongside sophomore
Nico Rating, Giesen helped the team win the doubles point over Portland last weekend en route to the team's 1-0 start in conference play.
The last time Pacific scored a win in Stockton was during the 2018 season. In order to replicate that winning result, the team will need strong performances from both Giesen and redshirt senior
Terence Das in singles. The former leads the team with eight singles wins this season with the latter right behind with five.
However, Saturday's matchup has decidedly favored Pacific in the recent series. The Tigers have won the last three against the Lions (12-1) and knocked them out of the West Coast Conference Tournament last season.
Schaertlin Coffey was the deciding point in that postseason match last season – pulling out a three-set thriller on singles court six.
The junior has added to his game this season and is one of the team's leading doubles performers. He, alongside freshman
Reuben De Klerk, pace the Tigers with eight doubles wins each – seven of which have come as a pair. The duo holds a 6-4 record on court two and 1-1 record on court one.
Prior to the match on Saturday, senior
Riley Hillenbrand, and redshirt senior
Terence Das will be honored for their countless hours of dedication to the program.
