STOCKTON, Calif. – In the final home game of the year, the No. 19 Pacific women's water polo program conceded a second half rally to No. 23 Cal Baptist in a 13-11 decision on Senior Day at the Eberhardt Aquatics Center.

After the game, Pacific (9-8, 1-3 GCC) honored lone senior
Amaya Leiby, from Gresham, Oregon. Leiby is on pace to graduate this semester with a bachelor's in philosophy and political science with a concentration in criminal justice and a minor in pre law. She plans to further her education and pursue a master's in human rights and also plans to attend law school.

The Tigers used a 5-1 second quarter to lead 7-5 at half. Though, CBU (13-9, 3-2 GCC) returned the favor with a 5-1 third quarter to go up 10-8 and was able to hold off a comeback attempt from Pacific in the fourth.

Freshman
Eleni Ikonomou led Pacific's offense with four goals and an assist. Junior
Laia Marsinach Ortega and freshman
Sophie Pethers notched two goals apiece. Freshman
Maria Ikonomou tallied a goal and three assists.

The Tigers trailed 4-2 at the end of the first went they answered with five consecutive goals to lead ahead 7-4. However, the Lancers scored near the end of the first half and continued it into a 4-0 run to go up 8-7. CBU remained ahead 11-9 midway through the fourth.

Pacific cut the deficit to one-goal twice in the fourth. A score by
Maria Ikonomou had the team down 11-10 with 2:46 left, and a goal by Pethers trimmed it to 12-11 with 1:10 remaining. Though, CBU drew an exclusion and scored in the final minute to stay in front.

The Tigers are now 18-12 all-time against the Lancers and 10-2 at home. Pacific has won 12 of the last 13 games dating back to 2014.

It was the final home game after
Santa Clara announced it will forfeit its contest on Thursday, March 26. Pacific, which will finish the year 3-2 at home, will conclude the regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28 in a GCC road match at Fresno State.
