STOCKTON, Calif. – Despite the warm weather, the Pacific baseball program's bats went cold against Seattle, dropping game two of the series, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon from Klein Family Field.
The Tigers (9-13, 1-1 WCC) mustered just three hits on the day as the Redhawks (4-14, 1-1 WCC) struck early and ultimately held on to even up the opening conference series.
Graduate student
Brendan O'Sullivan was once again a key cog of the Pacific offense, collecting another pair of hits, including a double and an RBI single.
Redshirt junior
Garret Plata (1-1) was solid in his first conference start, going 5.0 innings and allowed two runs with six strikeouts.
Seattle took advantage of free passes early on, scoring one in the first and another in the second to go ahead, 2-0.
Zeroes were thrown on the board for a while until the seventh when Seattle extended its edge to 4-0.
What looked like a repeat of Friday's opener did not pan out as Pacific scored just two in the eighth inning to cut its deficit in half, 4-2.
The Redhawks added one more in the ninth to pad their lead, and that resulted in the final score, 5-2.
Pacific and Seattle battle it out in the rubber match tomorrow with a first pitch slated for 1 p.m. at Klein family Field.
