Tigers Take Advantage of Early Offense in 5-3 Win at Sacramento State

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Pacific baseball program righted the ship to a 5-3 victory over Sacramento State in game two of the four-game set with the crosstown opponent on Friday from John Smith Field.

The Tigers (7-10) are back in the win column thanks to a jump-started offense and dominant pitching performances from redshirt junior Zach Todd and redshirt junior Carson Revay to even up this week's set with the Hornets (6-12).

Returning to the top of the batting order tonight, graduate student Brendan O'Sullivan represented a catalyst of the Pacific offense, going 4-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Four more Tigers recorded multi-hit days, including senior Jake Tandy and senior Blaine French each bringing home a run.

Redshirt junior Andrew Sloan crushed his second home run of the season in the second inning, adding to his season RBI total of six. Sloan's big fly was his second of the calendar month after hitting his first at Grand Canyon on March 1.

On the pitching front, Todd was sharp in his 4.0 innings of work, allowing just one earned run with five strikeouts. Graduate student Ethan Shaver (1-1) was credited with the win in his relief outing, followed by Revay who pitched the final 4.0 innings and earned his third save of the year. Revay added three strikeouts to his 2026 resume on Friday.

The Tigers kick-started the offense in the first three innings, scoring the game's opening run in the first on Tandy's RBI single to bring home O'Sullivan. Sloan's home run was the first of three Tiger runs in the second, extending Pacific's edge to 4-0. A two-out single by O'Sullivan in the third inning sent the fifth Pacific run across home plate, which proved to be enough.

Pacific escaped a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the bottom of the sixth as Revay limited the damage to just one run and eventually kept the Tigers in front, 5-2, after six.

The Hornets stung for one more run in the eighth, but that's all Revay would surrender and Pacific would hold on for the 5-3 win.

The four-game set between the Hornets and the Tigers shifts back to Klein Family Field for the next two games. First pitch on Saturday will be at 3 p.m., followed by a Sunday matinee at 1 p.m. in Stockton, California.
