Uncharacteristic Day Shooting Dooms Pacific Versus Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pacific women's basketball program dropped a 72-44 decision to Gonzaga on Saturday afternoon at the McCarthey Athletic Center after shooting 4-for-23 from three.

Today's outing broke a string of four straight games in which Pacific (9-14, 4-8 WCC) had made seven or more three-pointers. Two of the four Tigers threes did come from redshirt sophomore Stella Szabo, tying her career high for the second time in three games. She also picked up a steal and a rebound.

In the post is where the team found most of its success, getting double digit efforts from sophomore Winner Bartholomew and senior Sydney Ward. The former led the team with 12 points on 5-for-10 shooting and four rebounds while the latter did a little bit of everything putting together a final line of 11 points, seven rebounds, two assists and three blocks.

After today, Ward sits nine blocks away from becoming the fourth Tiger in team history to reach the century mark in blocks – and the first entry since Gena Johnson and Kendall Kenyon both did so in 2015.

Freshman LaMiracle Lebon did play a career high 21 minutes of action and posted one point, three rebounds and a block.

As a team, Pacific matched its season high six blocks (done twice prior, most recently versus Simpson on December 19).

Up next for the team is a short drive to Moraga to face Saint Mary's on Thursday and then returns to the Alex G. Spanos Center for the yearly Pink Game against Oregon State. Both matches will be streamed on ESPN+.
