Softball Concludes Weekend with Two Losses in Hawaii

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Pacific finished the opening weekend of the 2026 season on the wrong side of two matches, falling 10-1 in five innings to North Dakota and then dropped a 3-1 game to Hawaii on Saturday the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

GAME 1
The Tigers (1-4) struck first in the second, drawing an error against the Fighting Hawks (2-3) that allowed Tauavepeaoumamalu Risati to score from third base. However, after that moment the team was kept off the scoreboard and was unable to advance a runner beyond second base. The four Pacific hits were scattered across four student-athletes in senior Allie Capello, junior Bailey Boetjer, sophomore Katelyn Maciel and junior Zaedi Tagalog.

The pitcher of record was freshman Carley Mulcahey who lasted the first two innings and gave up eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits and walked two. Fellow freshman Jaelyn Lee appeared in relief and spun the final three innings and gave up two runs on two hits, walked two and struck out two.

GAME 2
Capello came alive in the second half of Saturday to notch her second three-hit effort of the season, two of which were doubles, and the team's one RBI of the game. After the first weekend of play the senior is the team leader in hits (8), batting average (.500), runs scored (3), home runs (1), and total bases (13).

In the circle, junior Justice Alcaraz spun her second straight complete game – lasting all six innings and gave up three runs, all earned, seven hits, a walk and two strikeouts. The junior was the pitcher of record, she falls to 1-2.

UP NEXT
The Tigers return home for the home opener on Wednesday against UC Davis. The last time these two schools met in Stockton was during last year's Libby Matson Classic where Emma Dazell hit a walk off double to defeat the Aggies 11-10. That match will be streamed on ESPN+.
