Tigers Take On Wolf Pack Classic & Combined Event

RENO, Nev. – The Pacific men's and women's track and field program heads back on the road for the Wolf Pack Classic & Combined Event from Thursday, Feb. 5 to Saturday, Feb. 7 from the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

The Tigers are making their second trip to the Silver State this indoor season, competing only on Friday with 29 Pacific participants.

Headlining the women's group going to Reno, Nevada is senior Emily Wernli, who is set to make her season debut in the mile this week. Wernli is one of seven Pacific runners taking part in the mile event, joining sophomore Alix Crawford, freshman Keira Hampton, junior Valeria Espinoza, junior Alexa Myers, senior Briteny Goriye and freshman Daphne Iosua. Crawford has run the third fastest mile by a Tiger this season, clocking in at 5:20.83.

Four Tigers will compete in the 800-meter run with senior Sophia Livingston, junior Gianna Solano, junior Emma Kaufman and freshman Mohailani Peloso representing Pacific in that event. Pacific will also see action in the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes.

On the men's side for running, a dozen Tigers will suit up for the mile, spearheaded by junior Jack Weber, who notched a mile time of 4:13.64 at the UW Invitational, becoming the fastest Pacific men's runner to complete the mile this season. The men's distance team will also compete in the 200-meter, 400-meter and 800-meter runs.

Looking at the field events, sophomore Jonathan Jones will compete in the high jump and long jump. Jones recorded a long jump distance of 6.19 meters at the Nevada Invitational earlier this year. Jones will make his Pacific debut in the high jump on Friday.

Senior Serena Yee will make her season debut in the high jump. Her previous best is 1.52 meters from last season.

Friday's events will start at 10 a.m. with the weight throw and end with the men's and women's 5k at approximately 5 p.m. The meet can be viewed live on the Mountain West Network.
