HONOLULU, Hawaii – The Pacific softball program clawed back from an early deficit but ultimately fell in a tightly contested 3-2 game against North Dakota on Thursday afternoon at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Senior
Allie Capello was Pacific's (0-1) standout performer this afternoon, going three-for-four at the dish with the team's first RBI of the season and a run scored. The other RBI of the contest came off the bat of sophomore
Jayleen Scott who hit a sac fly to score Capello.
Fellow sophomore
Peyton Clifford recorded the team's other multi-hit bid going two-for-three with a double. Senior
Amanda Bricker started her season off with an extra base hit.
A trio of junior transfers all making their Pacific debuts and got base knocks in
Bailey Boetjer,
Zaedi Tagalog and
Kaylah Adams.
Sophomore
Ariel Nava took the ball as the program's opening day starter and navigated the first two innings giving up four hits and two runs, only one earned.
After the second inning, junior
Justice Alcaraz took the circle for the remainder of the game and was Pacific's pitcher of record finishing with four innings pitched, four hits, and one run.
The team remains in Hawaii on Friday and takes on two games facing Seattle and host Hawaii. The first game of the day is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. against Seattle and then 7:30 p.m. against Hawaii.
