PHOENIX – Behind a strong pitching performance and timely hitting, the Pacific baseball program battled in another tight contest against Grand Canyon, grinding out with a 3-2 victory on Saturday evening from Brazell Field at GCU Ballpark.
The Tigers (5-5) secured their first road victory of the 2026 campaign with redshirt junior
Garret Plata and redshirt sophomore Robert providing the support to push Pacific past the Lopes (4-7).
Plata turned in another strong outing in his third start on the year, going 4.1 scoreless innings with just three hits allowed and six strikeouts. Plata is now up to 24 strikeouts in 13.1 innings of work and lowered his earned run average to 0.68 in the process.
Orr hit another towering shot for a home run in back-to-back games. His solo home run in the top of the fifth provided the initial spark for the Tigers' offense. With a 2-for-4 night at the plate with the big fly, Orr now leads Pacific with two home runs on the year and a team-best .324 batting average.
Senior
Grant MacArthur and senior
Rylan Evans brought home Tigers with singles during a two-run rally in the sixth inning that made the score, 3-0.
The Pacific bullpen did its job closing the door on the win, despite giving up a pair of runs in the eighth inning. Redshirt junior
Carson Revay earned his second save of the season, pitching the final four innings in relief.
Pacific and GCU will compete in the rubber match tomorrow with a first pitch scheduled for noon PST from GCU Ballpark.
