LA JOLLA, Calif. – In Thursday morning's action, the Pacific men's tennis program faced several deficits against Ball State but overcame each one to eventually claim the 4-3 win over the Cardinals.

The comeback started early as the Tigers (5-4) lost the doubles point behind missteps on courts one and three. Sophomore Niv Zuckerman and freshman Reuben De Klerk teamed up on court two to take a comfortable win.

Then in singles, Pacific was again placed on the back foot following first set losses on courts one, four, five and six. However, sophomore on Jonty Giesen on court one rebounded to edge his opponent in set two and then cruise to set three win to capture the point. On the season Giesen improved to 5-3 in singles and 2-3 on court one.

De Klerk followed an identical script as Giesen, grinding out a set two win before cruising in set three. The freshman has now won two consecutive singles matches.

Finally on court five, Zuckerman traded 6-3 sets with his opponent through the first two before taking a narrow tiebreak win in set three that clinched the match in Pacific's favor. The triumph is his fourth of the season and his first action since February 6.

The only Tiger to have his match decided in straight sets this morning was graduate Terence Das' 6-4, 6-2 win on court two.

Pacific concludes its SoCal swing on Sunday with a matchup with UC San Diego. That match starts at 12 p.m.
