SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Pacific softball team put up a season high 11 runs in an 11-1 run rule victory over Cal Poly in game two of Saturday's action, rebounding from a heartbreaking walk off loss against Sacramento State in game one, falling 4-1.
GAME 2
Eight of the nine Tigers (3-10) that stepped up to the plate against Cal Poly (0-8) recorded hits highlighted by multi-hit efforts from senior
Allie Capello, junior
Bailey Boetjer and sophomore
Peyton Clifford.
Capello was the most effective at the plate going three-for-four with four RBIs, the third time this season she has tallied a three-hit game. Three of the RBIs came in the decisive fifth inning where she got an opportunity with the bases loaded and sent a pitch left center field to plate all three runners. After game two's performance the senior's batting average is back above .300 on the season, ranking second on the team. She also leads the team now with 12 hits on the season
Included in Boetjer's two hits was her third double of the season, tying her with Capello for second most on the team. While neither of her hits produced any runs, she herself came around to score in the second inning off the bat of senior
Jordan Hayes.
The first of Clifford's two hits scored Hayes in the second inning, and coupled with a walk, the sophomore reached base three times.
Junior
Zaedi Tagalog and sophomore
Jayleen Scott also plated runs to round out Pacific's 11. All three of Tagalog's RBIs this season have come against Cal Poly.
In the circle, sophomore
Alexa Lewis dazzled with a complete game win working around six hits to only give up the one run. She also did not allow any Mustangs to reach via the walk and struck out seven – the most in a single game by a Tiger since
Vanessa Strong in 2024 struck out seven against San Diego.
GAME 1
Despite the loss, junior
Justice Alcaraz spun a solid outing in the circle, holding Sacramento State (12-2) to one run for 6.1 innings and limited the Hornets to five hits. Her official line read 6.1 innings pitched, six hits, four runs (three earned), one walk, one strikeout.
Redshirt senior
Olivia Silvestre had the most success against Sac State, reaching twice via a base hit and a walk. She did come around to score in the fourth inning after
Jayleen Scott forced a Hornets error. In addition, Silvestre added two more stolen bases to her season ledger, she is a perfect four-for-four so far.
Zaedi Tagalog notched Pacific's other hit in the morning game and Clifford would reach once after drawing a walk.
